Federal Government Bans Chiropractic from all Federal Programs !
April Fools ! - No, this has not actually happened, but as you read this, there are those forces in all levels of government here in the US and internationally that are fighting for exactly that.
Chiropractic has had many internal fights about how to position ourselves in the health care market. Forces pushing for the elimination of chiropractic have used the duplication of services argument quite successfully in many venues.
However, chiropractic actually offers a unique and separate form of healthcare based on the self-healing abilities of the body, when the nervous system is free from interference.
So what should you do? For a beleaguered profession, we have a very small percentage of our profession as members of state and nation associations. It should be the desire and responsibility of every chiropractor to belong to the national and state association of their choosing. The worst thing you can do is nothing! This is an automatic win for our enemies.
The second thing you can do is to be a part of research in chiropractic. You may be thinking that, as a practitioner, you do not have the time, nor inclination to do research. Even if you do not want to actively do research, you can help fund it. You can donate to research at the school of your choice, and you can subscribe to journals such as the McCoy Press journals, which can be found here.
A yearly subscription is the best way to access both current AND past articles of all McCoy Press journals. All paid subscriptions give a user access to ALL four journals:
- Journal of Pediatric, Maternal & Family Health - Chiropractic
- Journal of Upper Cervical Chiropractic Research
- Dialogues - The Journal of Chiropractic Philosophy, Principles & Practice
- Annals of Vertebral Subluxation Research
We at NYK are very grateful to Dr. McCoy for his hard work on these journals. The research is very valuable to us in the preparation of educational information that we create for the general public. We subscribe to all his publications and urge all chiropractors and students to do the same.
The Real Purpose for a Chiropractic Website
Over the years, there have been lines of sales people and marketing "experts" who wanted to tell chiropractors how to grow their practices and the profession. As a profession, we have gone through the stages of big yellow page ads, newspaper ads, TV and radio ads, billboards, and just about every other marketing scheme available.
The simple fact is that the largest practices in the nation do not depend on "get rich quick" schemes to build their practices. They build practices through outreach and referral, the same way we have been doing it for many decades. Education is a key component of this plan. We have heard it said, "If they knew what you knew, they would do what you do." This is extremely true in chiropractic as almost all chiropractors and their families are under regular care.
Recently, slick sales people have entered chiropractic with promises of scores of new patients and growth via the internet. And while the internet offers a great avenue for education and outreach, many a DC has fallen prey to the inflated promises of marketing gurus who claim instant success via websites and social media. This is simply not true.
In this short video by Dr. Braile, these myths are debunked and the truth is told about the real purpose of online presence for chiropractors. In his programs being given around the nation, Dr. Braile goes into depth to clearly show the fallacy of the quick fix internet marketing being promoted by those who are not even in this profession. The Clear and the Subluxated! - AKA - Chiropractic in the News
The chiropractic profession gets its share of news on the Internet. Some news is positive or informative, which we will call "Clear." Unfortunately, some news is not so good, and leaves you shaking your head asking, "What were they thinking?" We will call these the "Subluxated" stories. In an effort to keep our profession updated on what the public is reading, we present these, unfiltered!
